Castagnola's, San Francisco

In a restaurant near the Fisherman's Wharf, seafood is expected to be on the menu. So there's Swordfish, Alaskan Halibut, Prawn Cocktail etc. that you'll see on the card. But there's also beef, chicken and pasta. Now what makes Castagnola's special, is the crab cocktail which was first made here by Thomaso Castagnola. Way back in 1916, Castagnola started off as a little stand where the passers-by relished the crab cocktail. Today it stands as one of the oldest eating joint in the neighborhood. All the seafood prepared here is made from the fresh catch delivered everyday, and the tender crab flesh and fish will leave a taste that will linger on.
