Once an apartment building, this 1930s Spanish-style building is very near the wharf and a short walk from the action on State Street. There’s no pool, but the beach is only a block down. Due to its apartment origins, some suites have kitchens, even fireplaces, and arched doorways between rooms. The grounds are rich with palms, flowers and climbing magenta bougainvillea, and stairways are lined with wrought iron rails. The décor is simple, with dark fairly modern furniture. Beds are soft, covered in white-encased duvets. The complimentary continental breakfast is pretty much as little as they can get away with giving you, and if the inn is full, the complimentary parking may be as well, leaving the street the only other option. For the location and the attractiveness of the building, however, this is a very good deal with warm service.
