Unfortunately the reality of youth sports is that it's usually the parents who don't want to volunteer that have such negative opinions of everything. Little League Baseball all across the nation is a VOLUNTEER organization. Before badmouthing Little League maybe you should ask yourself what can I do to help? Frankly, it sounds like the previous review was from someone who has no idea what little league is all about. Our family has had experince with other leagues in Simi valley and has returned to this one BECAUSE IT WAS THE BEST. Families and players are respectful (as opposed to some of the other leagues where only the best actually play and the players themselves are competitive and rude to their own team mates.) One other league even had parents shouting at the umpire, at coaches, and at other parents. Simi Valley Little League has heart. Sure its smaller, but the fields are beautiful. Some are in gorgeous, park-like settings. It is a non-profit organization run by people who really care about children. True Fall ball has fewer participants, but for the last three years that we have been involved, Spring Ball has many more participants. The truth here is, that if you want your child to learn the nitty gritty reality of competitive sports - and all the ugliness that can go with it - than join another league. We want people who are playing to have fun, exercise, and a positive experience. My son calls it the "Happy League." And in case you are wondering, he is actually a good player, so this review was not written by someone who was bitter about the child being benched but rather by someone who, disgusted by the attitudes of the players and parents at other leagues, has returned to a happy, positive place where my child is thriving, making friends, and really improving due to the diligence of great coaching and a caring, inclusive attitude. AND he is learing what true sportsmanship means.... Read More
