  • Day 4
  • 1 Head south to Canon City and the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park.
  • 2 Arrange to take a river raft ride in the morning, or just explore the park’s many attractions, including the Skycoaster and mule rides.
  • 3 Have lunch in the saloon at nearby Buckskin Joe’s old Western town.
  • 4 If you didn’t raft or explore the park in the morning, do that in the afternoon.
  • 5 Back in Colorado Springs, have dinner at the Edelweiss Restaurant.
  • Day 5
  • 1 Head up to Cripple Creek in the morning.
  • 2 Stop at the Cripple Creek Visitors Center to get oriented.
  • 3 Visit the Mollie Kathleen Mine and take a gold mine tour.
  • 4 Ride the Cripple Creek & Victor Railroad.
  • 5 Have lunch at Maggie’s.
  • 6 Visit the Outlaws and Lawmen Jail Museum and the Cripple Creek District Museum.
  • 7 Catch a melodrama matinee at the Butte Opera House.
  • 8 Do a little gambling, if you feel so inclined—or lucky.
  • 9 Return to Colorado Springs and have dinner at the Golden Bee at the Broadmoor, or at one of the hotel’s more upscale restaurants.
  • Day 6
  • 1 Spend the morning at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and take a tour.
  • 2 Have lunch at Panino’s downtown.
  • 3 Go to the U.S. Air Force Academy in the afternoon and stop at the visitors center. Hike the short nature trail there.
  • 4 Have dinner on the patio at the Margarita at Pine Creek.
  • Day 7
  • 1 Visit the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy.
  • 2 Have lunch at nearby Oliver’s Deli.
  • 3 Book a horseback ride in Garden of the Gods with Academy Riding Stables.
  • 4 Have dinner and hear cowboy music at the Flying W Ranch.
  • 5 Check out Cowboys night club for some line dancing before you head home.
