You’ll pay a premium for the fabulous location right next to the 16th Street Mall, but the Grand Hyatt, one of the best Denver hotels, is worth the extra coin. This large AAA Four Diamond hotel has service and amenities to match its rates and its ratings, though it can get crowded with business travelers when large conventions like the National Western Stock Show are in town. The 550 guest rooms are spacious and equipped with iHome radios, large flatpanel TVs and walk-in closets. There’s good dining in the hotel, but it’s just steps from the front door to the whole variety of restaurants along the Mall. Atop the hotel is the Pinnacle Club, a meetings and social venue with views over the city and the mountains that stretch all the way to Pike’s Peak, 100 miles away. Just above the Pinnacle Club there’s a rooftop mini-resort complete with indoor pool, fitness club, tennis and jogging track plus an outdoor Jacuzzi with that same forever-and-a-day view. Even if you’re a flatlander and can’t handle working out this far above sea level, grab a bottle of water and walk around the track: you’ll see more than 200 named peaks and gaze over an area roughly the size of Massachusetts.
