Kanlaya, Washington DC

As the first Thai restaurant to open in Chinatown in 2004, Kanlaya has become a fast favorite among tourists, downtown inhabitants, and those who work in the area. The friendly, warm, and casual restaurant right next to the Verizon Center is often packed during lunch hours. The menu includes a large selection of traditional Thai soups, appetizers, and entrees for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Many of the noodle dishes such as the Pad Thai and curry dishes are among the favorites with the lunchtime crowds as the dishes are full of flavor, yet not too spicy, and are served in perfect portions.
