Located on the 57 acre swamp between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River Lagoon, the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center was opened to public in the year 1994. The center comprises of various facilities such as its administrative office and a visitor's center inside a modest building. The outdoor attractions include a 750,000 gallon Game Fish Lagoon, Sea Star Touch-Tank Pavilion and Children's Activity Pavilion to impart information about the surrounding environment and the coast with some fun and leisure activities. The mangroves and coastal hammocks in the surrounding are a major part of the eco-system and is perfect for nature trails guided by knowledgeable volunteers of the center.
