Known for its visitors and resident impressionist artists (including painter Claude Monet who is probably the best known), the town of Giverny also has a Musee des impressionnismes . Inaugurated in 1992 by American businessman and collector Daniel J. Terra, the museum's main interest is art that resulted from the spiritual bonding between American artists and Monet. As well as the museum's permanent collection, temporary exhibitions are shown here on a regular basis. Take part in one of the adult and children's workshops organized here, and the huge meadow behind the building might just bring out the artist in you. These workshops last around one and a half hours and are free for museum visitors. Phone to reserve a place (all the necessary artist's materials are provided, so there's no need to bring your own). The nearby Musee Claude Monet is also worth a visit.
