Wallis Giunta (mezzo-soprano)
Ken Noda (piano)
A product of the prestigious artist development programs at the Canadian Opera Company and the Metropolitan Opera, Wallis Giunta is one of opera's fastest rising stars, acclaimed as an extraordinary vocal and acting talent. The Canadian mezzo-soprano's "Seven Deadly Sins" recital, in which she appears as a 1930's cabaret star performing Kurt Weill's classic stage work and thematically associated songs and arias, has won applause from critics in Toronto and New York.
Ms. Giunta's recital with pianist Ken Noda marks her South Florida debut and the latest installment in Friends of Chamber Music's "Rising Stars of the Metropolitan Opera" series.

- Venue Description:
This lovely Spanish-style church, located across the street from the Biltmore Hotel, has the distinction of being the very first church built in Coral Gables. Although modern churches, and especially congregational churches, are traditionally austere, here wooden pews, altar candelabra, chandeliers, and side arches signal the lush standards of a different era. The intimate setting that results makes this church a favorite site for weddings. In addition, the church hosts author readings sponsored by Books & Books and features a wonderful musical series.
