Best Naples Nightlife

AOL PICK from our Editors
“Naples nightlife” used to be an oxymoron. That’s changing with some dance clubs that are not-prosthetic-hip friendly, comedy clubs and lounges clearly keyed to the under-40s. At the end of the day, though, you should end up at one of the many outdoor venues with a view over the Gulf for the reliably trippy Technicolor sunsets that fire up the evening sky with a marbling of pinks, oranges and purples that would make Monet moan.

McCabe's Irish Pub

Neighborhood: Old Naples
First and foremost, McCabe’s is a restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to rave reviews for more than 10 years now. But in the evenings, good, raucous fun is served up Irish-style, when lots of mug raising and singing ensues, in conjunction with the live entertainment. The revelry often spills out onto the sidewalks and into the street as the crowd gets into the music; and it’s more than Celtic as the mix includes oldies, pop, Motown, rock, country and more.

Shane’s Cabana Bar

Neighborhood: Old Naples
This small chickee bar built directly over the water of Naples Bay is a popular spot for locals who like to chill after work with one of Shane’s renowned margaritas. It’s not a place to eat and it closes at 11PM, so don’t plan to make a night of it. But for before-dinner drinks, or an early nightcap on a long day when you just can’t make it to the club, this is a premium pick. Don’t forget to take a look at the nightly drink specials, which will be scribbled on a board above the bar. When you can’t read the scribbles anymore, it’s time to go home.

Seminole Casino

Neighborhood: Immokalee
The Seminole Tribe of Florida has lock on real gambling (although some jai alai frontons and racetracks do have limited card and parimutuel wagering). This casino is a bastion of risk and reward, where slots are jingling, die are thumping and Hold ’Em players are working hard to maintain their poker faces. Even if gambling isn’t your idea of a great time, you’d be hard pressed not to be entertained—there’s live entertainment and icy cocktails at the Zig Zag Bar, the enormous EE-TO-LEET-KE (“The Camp” in Seminole) restaurant, with big-screen TVs and prime rib specials, and special events and promotions like Race 2 Riches Slot Tournaments and Spin the Wheel contests, to name just a couple.

Off the Hook Comedy Club

Neighborhood: Marco Island
You can fill your gut and then bust it laughing at Off the Hook. Enjoy dinner in the nautical-themed Captain Brien’s Seafood and Raw Bar from a menu that reads like a telephone book—mainly fresh seafood dishes, but also a respectable selection of sandwiches, burgers, steaks and pastas—then sit back and enjoy the shows by Comedy Central veterans like Bruce Bruce, D.L. Hughley, Bill Bellamy, Jon Lovitz and Jim Breuer. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Naples to Marco, but worth it for this enjoyable evening out.

Blue Martini

Neighborhood: Coco River
The Naples branch of this popular lounge with locations around Florida (there’s one in Vegas, too) is known for its—surprise!—42 kinds of martinis, as well as its wildly popular annual Little Black Dress Party, but there’s something happening just about every night of the week. Happy Hour daily from 4PM - 7PM, Wednesday night is Ladies Night, Thursday night is Bacardi Night, and on it goes. There’s an outdoor patio bar, a stage room (where the main party rages) and a private VIP room, and it’s open daily from 4PM - 2AM. The atmosphere is a little Rat Pack throwback, with sleek modern interior and heavy emphasis on mixed drinks, but it’s fun and attracts a solid young professional crowd.
