  • Day 2
  • 1 First stop: the John & Mabel Ringling Museum of Art. Check the website in advance to see the times of the various guided tours. Plan on staying all day ... there’s a lot to see.
  • 2 Continue the art theme by heading over to Towle’s Court to see a few of the contemporary art galleries, followed by dinner at The Canvas Café.
  • Day 4
  • 1 Carbo-load with a mile-high stack of pancakes at The Broken Egg.
  • 2 Try a new water sport—sailboarding, maybe?—at Siesta Key Beach.
  • 3 See for yourself what all the fuss is about—have dinner at MoZaic.
  • Day 6
  • 1 Do some underwater sightseeing: go snorkeling.
  • 2 Back on land, lunch at Turtles on Little Sarasota Bay.
  • 3 Take a nap before heading out for the evening.
  • 4 Find a longterm parking spot near St. Armands Circle and hit some of the shops you missed on your first visit. When you’re ready, amble over to the Columbia order a pitcher of sangria and settle in for the evening—dinner, dessert and conversation.
  • Day 7
  • 1 Stake your spot on Siesta Key beach and just don’t move.
  • 2 Chow down at The Village Café in Siesta Key Village.
  • 3 Do some last-minute, last-day shopping for beach kitsch in the Village boutiques.
  • 4 Eat, drink and be merry at Captain Curt’s.
