Café Agora, one of Atlanta's favorites, offers a fun and authentic experience of the warm Mediterranean. Toga-like gauzy scarlet drapes and beads adorn the windows. The textured white walls, which are reminiscent of those in ancient Greek stone buildings, are decorated with painted cracks and gold embellishments. The menu is based on Turkish, Greek, Arabic, and Persian cuisine, and includes gyros, kebabs, and salads. Start with tabouli, which is cracked wheat, tomatoes, and cucumbers, before diving into the ample portions of a kofte kebab, a beautifully browned skewer of perfectly seasoned ground lamb. You may have to loosen your belt, but it's worth it to try the pistachio baklava or the Turkish rice pudding. Lunchtime is the busiest time, and call-ahead ordering is recommended.
