Urban Grounds, Atlanta

Urban Grounds is a cozy, laid-back coffee shop in Avondale Estates, a small neighborhood in Decatur. Like most places in Avondale, Urban Grounds offers a small-town feel while in the shadow of the Atlanta skyline. The background music is quiet, and the atmosphere lacks the hectic feel of other coffee shops. There are tables scattered around the open seating area, but the overstuffed couches offer an especially relaxing spot to sip a coffee, iced coffee, tea or smoothie. Urban Grounds also serves sandwiches and pastries, like their giant chocolate chip muffins. When the weather is nice, a spacious outdoor patio offers plenty of seating under the shade of trees. - Beth Dolgner
