Located along the Hamakua Coast, this county park is a special spot in the midst of the Hilo rainforests. It is a spot can than can be easily missed while driving through the well-traveled Hawaii Belt Road. The road winds past eucalyptus forests, tropical jungle and blooming ginger blossoms. The entrance is a narrow road enveloped in tropical vegetation that descends to the park below. It’s popular sport for backpackers who seek out the area for camping. The park is also popular with residents who come to picnic and swim in the freshwater stream or fish along the rocky shoreline. It is a picturesque spot, and at least worth a stop for a keepsake photo or two.
