Mahaiula Beach, Hawai'i (Big Island)

The access to this state park is located near the 91 mile marker about 2.5 miles/4 kilometers north of the entrance to the Kona International Airport. The turn off the main highway is not so obvious to first-time visitors, but the unpaved road can be easily identified by the traffic that frequents the area. Swimming and snorkeling are good here but caution should be used during periods of rough seas and strong currents. Underwater rock formations, white sandy shoreline and great winter surf attract many locals and island visitors. Park facilities include restrooms, picnic tables and free parking.
