Overview

This theater is in the small plantation town of Honokaa, sandwiched between the beautiful Waipio Valley and the expanse of tropical coastal beauty known as the Hamakua Coast. Built in the 1930s when Honokaa was the weekend gathering spot for plantation workers, ranchers and paniolo, the People's Theatre was built amidst the pool halls, saloons and barbershops. Today, the locals gather for first-run movies, cultural events, concerts and more. The audiovisual system has been upgraded to include more technology than one can imagine in this small, historical venue. Hours of operation vary.
