Just a left turn before the historic Haleiwa bridge, this beach is one of the more popular beaches with the locals. Great swimming, surfing amenities make this beach a top choice. Often overlooked by tourists seeking the high-profile beaches up the road, Alii is an enjoyable beach that is intimate and sunny with lifeguards, picnic areas, showers, parking and restrooms. The waves draw many surfers, but the beach is also known for some heavy rip-tides that run toward Waialua Bay. Caution should be taken to avoid the deeper waters while swimming, and be wary of reef breaks, especially during low tide.
