Formaggio Grill, Honolulu

Opening about a year and a half late after a series of bureaucratic mini dramas, this wonderful eatery and wine bar has finally arrived and it has become an instant hit. Located on one of the busiest corners in Kailua, this windward Oahu eatery is fresh and inviting. The informal atmosphere is perfect in keeping with the lifestyle of the island's windward side and the extensive wine list and bar also offers something special to the area residents. But the menu is fabulous and is full of unique items including Whole Moi steamed or fried in a ponzu butter sauce, Paella Valenciana with seafood and chicken sausage, Duck Cassoulet with white beans and pancetta. - Lottie Tagupa
