Ohana Diner, Kauai

This is a spot for folks with adventurous palates. Ohana Diner is a local hole-in-the wall with lots of long-time Kauai resident regulars who come for good, tasty and well-priced Hawaiian food. This is not Hawaiian food fancied up for mainland palates or fancy hotels, but real Hawaiian food. Lomi lomi salmon, macaroni slathered in mayonnaise, and pit-roasted kalua pork are some of the staples. There is also a very tasty poke made with fresh ahi, not the frozen stuff. The pipi kaula (Hawaiian style beef jerky) and lau lau are also definitely worth a try. Prices are on the steep side as authentic Hawaiian food has always been pricey.
