Kai Wailea, Maui

Located in the upscale resort area of Wailea in the fashionable shopping center called The Shops at Wailea, this small izakaya (traditional Japanese-style bar) is a friendly and welcoming site. The eatery boasts a long list of Japanese tapas that are traditionally accompanied by lots of beer and cocktails. The menu offers several types of edamame, tofu and tsukemono (pickled vegetables) plates along with more substantial salmon and ahi sashimi, salads and a wide range of sushi. Also offered are items from the robata grill (table-top grill). Items are cooked over Binchio charcoal and include garlic chicken, rib eye and even kobe steak.
