America's Dog, Chicago

America's Dog is a Chicago-based restaurant celebrating that great staple of American travel: the road trip. On the walls hang photos from owner Manolis D. Alpogianis's past trips across the country, including snapshots from many of the places he stopped to eat along the way. And in the America's Dog kitchen, Alpogianis and his staff aim to recreate some of those very meals. Here you can sample your way across the entire United States hot dog spectrum, from a chili-smothered San Francisco dog to a sauerkraut-and-brown mustard-topped New York dog. And for some hometown flavor, America's Dog serves up plenty ketchup-less Chicago-style dogs: mustard, relish, onion, sport peppers, tomato, pickle and celery salt. - Betsy Mikel
