A small rectangle of green in the Washington Heights area of the city, Brainerd Park plays a key role in the community, providing much needed green respite amid the city concrete. Named after one of the founding members of the Rock Island Railroad, this park features baseball fields, soccer fields, a basketball court, a playground, tennis courts, and a water spray, among other facilities.
