This is a simple and stylish place that echoes sophistication. Gray walls, white tablecloths and simple linens lend a nice touch to this spacious eatery. The menu suggests variations of Southwestern, Midwest and California fare. The rich and hearty black bean soup with cilantro makes a great starter. Daily specials and the regular menu offer a wide variety of entree selections. Grilled venison is tender and moist, and the Apple Tart is worth the calories. Service is pleasant and prompt. Dress code is casual. A satisfying lunch can be had for under $15 and dinner for under $40.

  I have eaten at Crofton on Wells a number of times when I visit Chicago. This restaurant never disappoints. The menu is different every time (I only get there about once every six months or so) and is comprised of seasonal fare. I would describe Crofton's as an American bistro.
