Overview
Not much is left of the Essanay Studios, a silent movie studio except for the husk of the original building. This was once one of the biggest movie-making hubs in the country. Chicago's Essanay Studios was the place for film making. Charlie Chaplin, Wallace Beery, Gloria Swanson, Ben Turpin and dozens of others made films here before the industry moved west. If you look carefully, you can still see signs of the old building embedded in the facade.
