Overview

This low key Rick Bayless eatery was inspired by Mexican street taco stands. Bayless serves up creative tortas, sandwiches, and number of caldos (soups), sure to warm anyone up on a cold winter day. The pozole is a healthier take on the traditional dish. Made of chicken instead of pork, the pozole usually served on weekends at most Mexican eateries is served here daily and is quite tasty. The pork and vermicelli caldo adds a bit of an Asian influence to the menu. The ever popular tortas are placed on a crunchy french bread that, while not the typical bread used in this traditional sandwich, only enhances the flavor of the specially cured meats and vegetables. Xoco also offers a great selection of specialty drinks such as aguas frescas (fruit drinks), along with a decent wine and beer selection. Dessert is a must, and during the summer months diners can look forward to a cup of homemade ice cream with strawberries. The made to order churros, available all year round, melt in your mouth.
