I've been to Bayou Barn several times recently during their Fais do-do's. My husband and I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. I believe this venue changed ownership somewhere around 2012. Since that time, the quality of the food has greatly improved. In fact, we often end up purchasing additional plates to take home. Several dishes are homeruns including their Gumbo, southern green beans, sweet potato casserole and of course the white chocolate bread pudding that someone else has already commented about. They are earning a reputation in the community for being a family place with quality food. I would definitely recommend them for a party or wedding venue....   Read More

We attended a wedding at Bayou Barn this past summer. It was lovely. The gardens and decor really made for a great Cajun experience. They are right on the water and we saw quite a few alligators!!! The food was also excellent. We enjoyed a whole Pig roast (which was the highlight of the affair) as well as grilled chicken and a shrimp pasta dish that was wonderful. Around the middle of the event, they brought out this white chocolate bread pudding that was so amazing it made you want to beg for the recipe. The staff was cheerful and they kept our table neat and clean. This is definitely a place I would keep in mind for any party or wedding venue!...   Read More

We actually went to the Bayou Barn, New Orleans, for a function as part of a tour guide just in April 2011, and we certainly would not recommend this. The quality of the food at the Bayou Barn was very underwhelming and of poor quality. With the range of cuisine available, and the international reputation of New Orleans food, I think there was a serious lack of quality on the night that we attended. I've also had the opportunity to participate in some New Orleans cooking classes in my week visit to New Orleans, and believe that there were some poor choices made to represent New Orleans at the Bayou Barn, and I don't believe that I could recommend your place as a venue for cultural experience of LA. A part from the jumbalya, the chicken wasn't anything that was distinctive, while the bread pudding was a very poor representation of the dish. The vegetables were very poorly prepared and overcooked, and we were very relieved when we were able to leave at a reasonable time to actually be able to find somewhere to eat once we were back at our hotel. Overall, the menu was underwhelming. We had been really looking forward to a traditional "cook out" of New Orleans cuisine, but unfortunately the Bayou Barn did not live up to the reputation, and I feel very strongly that I needed to advise you of this, and would seriously caution others not to book this as a an outing. For what we paid we could have enjoyed an evening in the French Quarter at one of the local restaurants....   Read More
