Best Ocean City Nightlife

AOL PICK from our Editors
Ocean City isn’t the place to come for sophisticated live music or conceptual dance or anything like that. People come to get blasted at numerous street stands offering frozen daiquiris, margaritas that could fell an elephant, that sort of thing. For the most part, Ocean City is a family place, so don't come expecting wild parties. If you need a quiet drink, you’re best off with a hotel bar. Everything shuts at 2AM, and be warned: cops will book you for acting the fool on the Boardwalk.

Fager's Island

Neighborhood: North Ocean City
The folks at Fager’s run one of the biggest franchises in Ocean City, operating restaurants, lodging, you name it. But the original bad boy, the source of the Fager’s brand, is the Island. A restaurant-bar complex, Fager’s has plenty of incarnations: booze-sodden bacchanal late nights, casual spot for a mimosa and Bloody Mary the morning after, decent restaurant any time of day and symphonic artillery barrage at sunset. Oh, yeah, they play the climax of the "1812 Overture" when the sun sets over Isle of Wight Bay. The crowd here is more all-ages than other OC spots.

Seacret's

Neighborhood: North Ocean City
Who doesn’t love a bar where you walk in, kick off your sandals and feel the sand between your toes as palm trees sway overhead? Just try not to think of what might be lurking in that sand, as several Real World casts-worth of 20-somethings cavort around and turn this into consistently the wildest party in Ocean City. Sweaty beers, sweaty girls, sweaty guys—it’s fun, trust us. When you get tired of lazing on the beach, grab an inner tube, float drunkenly into a little tidal pool, and seriously, try not to think of what’s in the water. You’re probably adding to it already, drunkie.

The Party Block

Neighborhood: South Ocean City
If you’re more in the mood for dancing than drinking—more to the point, dancing and drinking—head to The Party Block. This is actually a conglomeration of several nightclubs and a pool bar. We think you can guess the crowd, but if you needed another clue, the night we popped in Paulie D from MTV’s Jersey Shore was DJing. It’s good, clean (well, actually not clean) fun, the sort of wild hedonism we all need to indulge in every now and then, but don’t expect to be able to hold a conversation.

Shenanigan's Irish Pub

Neighborhood: South Ocean City
Shenanigan’s is about as authentically Irish as a weekend in Disney World, but c’mon, what were you expecting? Leprechauns trilling away about the auld soil? How about frat boys from Penn State? That’s a little more like it. To be fair, it’s not quite as young a crowd here; the college crowd is represented, but you’ll also find folks in their 30s on up. That’s not to say the atmosphere is any more calm and collected, just not as fresh-faced. Live bands play a mix of rock and Irish traditional and keep the atmosphere lively.
