Old Davis Square favorite Diesel Café has opened a sister café in Somerville's Union Square. Bloc 11 isn't just another Diesel, though. The coffee shop has been renovated from its previous iteration as Somerville National Bank; although the space has been effectively converted into a don't-worry-sit-and-chill space, the bank vaults remain. Some seating lies inside their massive doors, but don't worry—there are plenty of other seating options. Bloc 11's allure includes a park-style outdoor patio, with grassy patches, tables, benches, trees, and benches around trees. The sandwiches are a step above normal coffee shop fare, and the coffee is roasted dark but not burned. Worth the trip to this inconvenient location. - Anais Wheeler
