Dogwood Café, Boston

Conveniently located across from Forest Hills Station and a short walk from Arnold Arboretum, the Dogwood Café is a laid-back pub and restaurant with a neighborhood feel. The thick cherry bar, local art and low lighting lends a cozy feel. The respectable draft beer selection, the competent bartenders and the reasonably-priced martini and drink list make this a great off-night hangout. Friday and Saturday nights bring low-key live acoustic musicians. The menu features fairly standard American and pub fare, with a good selection of burgers and appetizers. More impressive is the brick-oven pizza, which is hailed by the some as the best of Boston. Brunch is served on weekend mornings. - Anais Wheeler
