Overview
Set up in 1938, the Lowell House Opera at the Howard University is a community effort involving artists within and outside of Harvard University. Aimed at promoting theater and enhance performance skills among youngsters, this opera has a very famed alumni, Alan Gilbert, Hugh Wolff, Sarah Hicks, Lee Poulis and Evan Christ to name a few. The Lowell House Opera is well known for productions like Turandot by Giacomo Puccini, The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny by Kurt Weill and The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Also a part of the house is the Lowell House Opera Society, which provides help and support to upcoming artists and producers. Check the website for more details.
