Canonita Taqueria, Las Vegas

Located deep in the amazing Venetian Resort, this restaurant is more difficult to find than triple sevens at the slot machines. However, for those who are determined and lucky, this wonderful Mexican restaurant is a find among the expanse of trattorias, pizzerias, and ristorantes that cluster around the Grand Canal Shoppes. The setting is comfortable and cool with views of the resort canals, crooning gondoliers and more. The menu is more sophisticated than Tex-Mex, more sublime than Cali-Mex and creative beyond words. Favorites include the shrimp burritos and the Tarascan soup. The Cazuela de Camaromes y Almejas is a wonderful dish of shrimp and clams skewered and served with blackened tomatoes, marisco broth and more. -Lottie Tagupa
