Built around a huge outdoor kitchen, Cinnamon Morning is set right in the Rio Grande Valley, a temperate zone where you usually can enjoy your breakfast out in the fresh cool air. The main house has four cozy rooms, each with a private bath. If you want more space, you’ll need to upgrade to either the guest house or the casita across the yard—here you have the option of a kitchenette and a private patio. The look throughout is hip Southwestern: minimalist wood furniture against a bright turquoise wall, for instance, with a cow skull accent. You definitely get a sense of place, without the boring desert palette that plagues less-cool lodging in town.
