Overview
Once a farm, this 600-acre nature preserve has areas of fields, woods, and wetlands. There are several streams and ponds, including Big Pond, which is a sanctuary for migrating birds. The nature preserve has 5 miles of walking and hiking trails, along with a boardwalk by the swamplands. Many mammals make their home here, including deer and fox. There are also over 430 species of plants. The center’s Roger Tory Peterson interpretive building has many exhibits, including over 200 mounted birds, some of which are now extinct.
