Overview
This nature center is focused on the life and works of Roger Tory Peterson, a Jamestown native who was considered one of the greatest naturalists of the 20th century. Peterson used his skills of painting, photography and writing to bring nature to everyone. The mission of the institute is to educate children and adults about nature. The 27-acre center has nature trails, a butterfly garden, exhibits, and many special events. Displayed inside the visitors center are examples of Peterson's work, including his personal library, original paintings, and other artifacts.
