69th Regiment Armory, New York

The imposing structure of the 69th Regiment Armory stands tall on Lexington Avenue. The story behind the construction of the armory begins in the late 1800s, when a need for armories arose in the aftermath of the American Civil War. The style of architecture that embodies this armory was a deliberate break-away from the fortress-style that was so prevalent in armories till that point. The 69th Regiment Armory was designed by firm of Hunt & Hunt in the Beaux-Arts technique, making it even more valuable.
