Alfama opens its doors to traditional Portuguese cooking that has spread from Portugal to Goa. Revel in the traditionally cooked Bacalhau à Zé do Pipo or Salt Cod filet, baked with mayonnaise, Chanfana de Borrego (lamb leg braised in red wine and served with rice) and Polvo Grelhado or grilled octopus. The menu has pre-set meals along with an a la carte sample. The staff is excellent, attentive and receptive to the diner's needs. For all those curious about the cuisine, or those who simply want a change from the mundane, Alfamo is a  great respite from the mediocre.
