Alto, New York

Located behind the Thomas Pink store, Alto restaurant is a class apart. The cool blue lighting and mint green chairs only enhance the bright white of the linen tablecloths and the crisp metal framing. Gnocchi, polenta, ravioli, risotto and other Italian fare are all prepared using traditional Northern Italian methods; the pasta is painstakingly hand-cut and the sauces fresh and creative (the green of the fresh pea emulsion is the epitome of spring time). Though a little pricey, Alto is perfect for a first date, or relaxed dining with friends. Private dining facilities are also available; reservations are recommended.
