This stunning memorial was created to honor the people killed on September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993. Almost 3000 people lost their lives on September 11, 2001 when terrorists flew planes into the Twin Towers, causing them to collapse. The memorial also honors lives lost on February 26, 1993 during the World Trade Center bombing. The memorial consists of two pools set in the original site as well as a beautiful plaza. The names of the victims are engraved on paneling along the pools. Please be aware that visitors have to reserve advance passes with the date and time of the visit to ensure that the memorial is not overly crowded and remains a quiet place for reflection. The passes are available for free on the National September 11 Memorial website.
