Penny Farthing, The, New York

Situated on Third Avenue at 13th Street, the Penny Farthing is a busy, spacious but fairly run-of-the-mill Irish pub. The bar's space is a selling point since it works out as a good spot to meet a group of friends if you want to hang for a bit. Penny Farthing also gets packed on the weekends often with lines out the door, so be warned, especially if the bouncers decide to get bouncy. There are plenty of beers on tap and a full cocktail menu. Pub grub is fairly extensive with items like shepherd's pie and artichoke dip. Service is attentive (unless slammed with customers) so it is definitely a great idea to tip your bartender well. - Wynne Boelt
