The oldest club for artists in the US, the Salmagundi Art Club was founded in 1871 to promote the advancement of artists and the arts in New York. Constructed in 1853, the building in a New York City landmark and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Past members include Stanford White, N.C. Wyeth, Childe Hassam and Louis Comfort Tiffany. Open to the public, the club offers exhibits, lectures and classes. Art enthusiasts can sign up for the multitude of art classes that they offer. Regular art exhibitions showcasing creative sculptures, paintings and photography are the highlighting feature of this museum.
