The 205.31 acres (83 hectares) of the Soundview Park lay stretched along the Bronx River, till the point where it merges with the East River. Once a complete marshland, the land for this park was attained by the city’s Parks Department and transformed, over several years, into a recreational facility for the locals, yet, still preserving the park’s natural heritage. Among the facilities available at this park, are baseball fields, cricket fields, basketball courts, running tracks, playgrounds, greenways, and football fields. Also, being the point where a saltwater river, the Bronx River, meets a freshwater river, the East River, the park is also home to the elusive and elegant Osprey, also known as sea-hawk or fish eagle.
