Aptly named after the street it stands on, 518 West makes no bones of the hype that surrounds the establishment. As if by cue, the dishes seem exorbitantly priced and reservations may take a while. But the Shrimp con Aglio and Carpaccio, not forgetting the extensive wine list and sorbets and house-made crepes, should change any negative notion. The music can be a tad loud at times, but the decor certainly romances the guest. Moreover, dinners can be an elegant affair, without having to be too dressy.
