A mainstay in the music culture of North Carolina, the symphony has entertained music lovers since 1932. Meymandi Concert Hall is its regular home, but performances can take place at other venues ranging the gambit from concert halls and auditoriums to gymnasiums and outdoor arenas. The Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary, North Carolina is one such outdoor venue in which the North Carolina Symphony regularly performs in during its Summerfest program. The Symphony's Summerfest program has become a popular attraction during the summer months and is a wonderful way to introduce orchestral music to children. Many families spread blankets on the lawn and have a picnic while enjoying the music.
