May - August
Summer is the best time to come to Cincinnati, although it’s not the cheapest time. In summer, the butterflies are fluttering in Krohn Conservatory, pleasure boats are plying the Ohio River, horses are running at River Downs racetrack, people sitting along the Newport levee across the river can watch a Reds baseball game, Kings Island is in full force, and Fountain Square turns into a hub of outdoor entertainment.
January - March
Although Cincinnati is not so bleak-looking in the winter as other Ohio cities farther north, the unpredictable weather is one reason to give visiting this time of year a pass. Plus, with the holiday finery stashed away and the leaves off the trees, Cincinnati looks like it’s missing its pizzazz. It kinda is. But when spring flowers start to bloom, Cincinnati perks up again.
Septmeber - December
Fall is the second-best time to visit Cincinnati. When the air turns crisp, the foliage on trees in Cincinnati’s parks and along the banks of the Ohio River takes on brilliant colors. There are enough fall festivals to keep summer energy going a bit longer and the holiday season starts with Halloween. EnterTRAINment Junction has one of the best haunted house options. In December, Cincinnati is one city where people still shop downtown and Krohn Conservatory and Union Terminal offer special holiday exhibits. Fall is also when Cincinnati’s performing arts venues begin their new seasons.
