Mexico City has the world's most famous "Zocalo," a massive town square in the heart of the city. The name is literally a translation of “base”—as the square houses the base of an abandoned column—but has generally come to mean a town square or meeting place. Downtown Cleveland's Zocalo Mexican Grill and Tequileria took that part of the name as its inspiration. The menu is fairly standard for a Mexican restaurant in the United States, but also features house specialties like Jalisco Steak with spicy Chipotle sauce, or Tacos Pescado with Mahi Mahi, cabbage slaw and guacamole. The guacamole appetizer can be made for the customer at their table, allowing them to customize its ingredients. Zocalo's other attraction is its selection of tequilas and margaritas. Zocalo has dozens of tequilas of increasing quality available by the glass. They also have several different margaritas, such as a Sangria Rita or a Key West with melon and pina colada. Zocalo even offers two different happy hours, one before dinner and one after, with different food and drink options. - Marjorie Jensen
