Heart of downtown, walk to Cox Conv Center, Bricktown, Ford Center - Rooms are art deco style with dark wood and rich colors.
The Skirvin is Oklahoma City’s premier luxury hotel. Built in 1910 by oilman W. B. Skirvin, the hotel was luxurious from the very beginning. Skirvin built his own gas pipeline and electric plant for the hotel, and dug three wells to accommodate guests’ water needs. Each room had a private bath and a telephone, which was unheard of in 1911. In 2007, the Skirvin reopened after a $55 million renovation, and today is a stunning reminder of Oklahoma City’s early oil-boom days. The lobby’s marble floor and arched wooden entryways are all original to the building, and the decor is distinctly early-20th century. The English Gothic styling of the lobby and the art deco look of the guest rooms give you a sense of traveling back in time to the early days of Oklahoma’s statehood. And if that’s not enough, the Skirvin is reported to be haunted—just in case you like your elegance with a touch of mystery.
