AOL Travel Editor’s Review
The Oregon Zoo excels in education about the diverse species displayed in naturalistic outdoor exhibits. Asian elephants, polar bears and lorikeets peek through lush foliage, and meandering pathways promise surprises around every bend. The zoo’s new Red Ape Reserve, with orangutans and white-cheeked gibbons, is slated to open by autumn 2010. Its summer concert series and miniature steam train, which connects the zoo with the International Rose Test Garden, are additional family draws.
