Best Pittsburgh Hotels

AOL PICK from our Editors
Whether you prefer to stay in the lap of luxury or just want a cheap place to sleep, Pittsburgh's hotels offer a variety of prices and locations to suit your needs. The priciest hotels are found Downtown, as one might expect. If you've got a car, you can save a few dollars by staying a little way outside the city. Booking a Downtown hotel during Steelers home games can be a challenge. If you're not renting a car, it's a good idea to spend a little more and stay Downtown, where so many of the city's attractions, from Point State Park to Heinz Field, as well as some of the best dining, shopping and nightlife, are within walking distance. If that's just plain not an option, some hotels in outlying neighborhoods have city bus service nearby, so call and ask about transportation before you make your choice. The biggest enemy to a successful Pittsburgh vacation is the abundance of conventions, so book well in advance, even if you think it seems silly. Hotel rooms can become a very hot commodity, so don't rely on those last-minute-booking sites!

Westin Convention Center

Neighborhood: Downtown Price Range: Expensive
The Westin is a full-service hotel that welcomes you with an airy, modern lobby topped with gleaming skylights. The natural-light-filled hotel is conveniently connected via skywalk to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. The Westin caters beautifully to business travelers, but leisure travelers will be just as delighted with its tech-friendly amenities (and in-room spa treatments). Complimentary shuttle service is provided to sites such as the Heinz History Center, PNC Park and the Andy Warhol Museum. The Original Fish Market restaurant is located adjacent to the hotel for an upscale dining experience. Each room at the Westin features a signature Heavenly Bed and Heavenly Bath, with a design emphasis on city views and classic furniture.

Sheraton Hotel Station Square

Neighborhood: South Side Price Range: Moderate
The Sheraton Hotel Station Square is Pittsburgh's one and only riverfront hotel. You'll find Station Square a convenient location, without the possible headaches that can come from staying downtown. It’s a short walk to the Station Square “T” station for all points downtown, but the Station Square area is itself a fabulous hub of nightlife, shopping and interesting attractions from fountain shows to Segway tours. You may find you have little cause to leave! Other points of interest within walking distance include the Duquesne and Monongahela Inclines and the Gateway Clipper Fleet. You can stretch your legs with a walk or a run along the river with the path in front of the hotel. The hotel also has an indoor pool.
