Patriotism on the Sea
The Myrtle Beach area celebrates the Fourth of July both on land and on the sea. This seaworthy festival boasts over 100 boats parading by, all decorated in red, white and blue. The 14-foot boats to 40-foot yachts start at high tide at the fishing jetties in Garden City and sail to Murrell's Inlet. Trophies are awarded to the three best decorated boats. Landlubbers get into the act as well; trophies are awarded for the three best decorated docks. Free admission. Held at Captain Dick's Marina.

    Capt. Dick's has fishing excursions of all kinds. The Sea Bass trip is four and 1/2 hours long and costs USD44 for an adult and USD26 for a child 12 and under. On the Continental fishing trip, you will fish approximately 25-35 miles offshore for crimson snapper, triggerfish and bigger sea bass. The cost is USD62 for adults and USD33 for children. Fish for sand, tiger and hammerhead sharks on the six-hour shark-fishing trip. This one costs USD139 per person.
