This former depot saw its last train in 1970. But in 1973, this historic landmark was transformed into a hotel and is now the perfect way to step back into Chattanooga's railroad-centered past. Guests are greeted in the lobby by a massive domed ceiling reminiscent of a European church. The hotel not only rents rooms, but also contains restaurants, shops, gardens and meeting space. If the weather turns sour on your visit, rest assured an afternoon can be well spent in its halls and shops. The hotel is not easy walking distance to Downtown, unless you are looking for a little exercise. Luckily the CARTA electric bus terminal is next door and can whisk passengers to the hub of activity that is Downtown in 15 minutes.
